Serving The Community-At-Large
Since PROJECT HEARTBEAT was founded in 1993 by Giselle Felicia Vivian, BM CHT, it has been our mission to contribute to the needs of the community-at-large through our community outreach events. Our rhythm-based programs for recreation and wellness enhancement, One Heartbeat Rhythm Circles and Rhythms For Wellness have allowed us to continue this objective. Outreach efforts include hosting community events at no charge, providing partial scholarships to worthy facilities interested in offering a rhythm-based event to its population, and also donating our services for community events.
Some past events include participation in:
*YMCA's Kids Day @ Wild Oat's, 2004
*Summer Drumming In The Park Series, 2004
*Drums Around The World Global Peace Celebration, 2004 thru 2007

"Cancer doesn't have to be a reason for a child to miss the fun and excitement of camp. Frequently Asked Questions about SHARE THE RHYTHM!
Q: What is a Community Rhythm Day?
A: A community rhythm day is a public rhythmic music-making event facilitated by PROJECT HEARTBEAT which allows individuals of all ages to come together as community and experience the power of rhythm through a variety of activities. Sessions allow participants with no experience the opportunity to experience and explore how rhythmic music-making can be used to address personal recreational, educational, and wellness enhancement goals.
Q: Do I have to have any prior musical or drumming experience to participate?
A: No. The activities are designed to introduce individuals of all ages to the joy and benefits of rhythmic music-making and community drumming.
Q: I don't own a drum, do I need to buy one to participate?
A: A compliment of rhythm instruments will be provided for use, but you are welcome to bring a hand or body drum if you have one. If you are shopping for a drum, check out what is in stock at Apple Mountain Music before the event...while supplies last. Address: 10301 Comanche NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 Ph: 505-237-2048
Q: I won't know if I can make it by the registration deadline of Sept. 10th. Will tickets be available at thedoor?
A: If available, tickets will be sold prior to the event at Apple Mountain Music where the event is being held. First come, first served. You may call them at (505) 237-2048 after September 10th to confirm availability. Please come with completed registration form, if possible. We want to keep things flowing the day of the event. Thanks for your support.
Q: How young can a child be to attend?
A: Each session has an established age minimum. The FAMILY FUN session is designed especially for those with children as young as 5 years old. Each child must be accompanied by a registered and participating adult. Due to space limitations we cannot accomodate parents with infants or children under this age on the premisis. We appreciate your support in keeping your children safe and the event on schedule.
Q: Will food be available at the event?
A: No. We want to take care of Apple Mountain Music's instruments and there is no appropriate space in the store for eating. There is a recreational park next door. You may wish to pack a picnic, or visit local eateries for lunch. Bottled water will be available for participants, if necessary.
Calling All Drum Angels...
PROJECT HEARTBEAT is grateful for the participation and generosity of individuals who have supported our programs since 1993. We consider you all our partners in our outreach opportunities. Your event fees and additional contributions allow us to give to the community by acquiring or making instruments and having them available for the attendees to borrow. This has made our activities accessible to those who do not own drums/hand percussion and/or cannot afford the purchase of a personal instrument. In addition, with your financial support we are able to offer our time and energy in partnership with community organizations to provide programs for willing participants whose limited budgets typically exclude for this activity and the necessary instruments to implement one for their clients. If you are interested in becoming a Drum Angel, please contact Giselle Felicia Vivian, BM CHT at (505) 232-9010, or email: drummingupcommunity@circles4drumming.com Thank you!
