DRUM STUDY GROUP
This group is dedicated to deepening rhythmic awareness, fostering greater musicality, connection and drumming technique, and exploring a variety of rhythmic resources that enhance and empower individual self-expression and rhythm bliss!  Together, we will bring a new level of rhythmic empowerment to our community drumming events, including possible community outreach events.  Events will be offered in series format, where a committment is required to attend the majority of the sessions of a series and purchase of related literature.  Special one-day events will also be offered for all participants of these trainings.

HAND DRUMMING FOR EVERYONE!

During this workshop participants will learn the basic tonal strokes for hand drums using Babatunde Olatunji's drum language and develop fundamental rhythm skills that will support creative self-expression, playing with others and study of traditional cultural drumming styles.   Bring a djembe, ashiko, or conga style drum.  Limited instruments available, by reservation. Ages 18+ welcome.  Registration Fee:  $20
Pre-registration Required: (505) 332-2141

RHYTHM JAM!

During this workshop participants will explore a variety of simple ensemble patterns used on drums and hand percussion and use them as a launching point for their own improvisation and joyous rhythmic music- making.  Ages: 18+ welcome.
Registration Fee:  $20
Pre-registration Required: (505) 332-2141
